This work is divided in two parts, the first one is about the response of two Italian varieties of rice to salt stress and the second one is about the response of different types of microgreens to space conditions: microgravity and gamma rays. Both are important issue for the present and the future of humans, because salt stress represents one of the most important effects of climatic change that has a big influence on the crop productivity, and space is the new frontier for human exploration and colonization. The project about the response of two Italian varieties of rice to salt stress was entirely carried out at University Campus Bio-Medico of Rome, while the project about the response of different types of microgreens to the space conditions: microgravity and gamma rays was done in part at the Belgian nuclear research centre (SCK CEN) and in part at the University Campus Bio-Medico of Rome.
