Yunus: ricerche e scavi nella necropoli dell'età del Ferro di Karkemish

The reopening in 2011 of the excavations on the site of Carchemish by the turkish-Italian mission of the Department of History Cultures Civilizations of the Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna, in collaboration with the Universities of Istanbul and Gaziantep, has needed a re-reading of data excavation emerged during previous missions organized by the British Museum, conducted between 1913 and 1914 in the necropolis of Yunus, to put them in correlation also with unpublished data from the new excavations within the Carchemish and Yunus site. The ultimate goal of this project consists of a new analysis of the dating of the time Iron Age funerary contexts to define, where possible, the development both of the necropolis and the material culture with the intention of making a substantial contribution to the reconstruction and understanding of one of the most important Iron Age necropolis
