Some optimization problems in mass transport theory

This thesis is dedicated to the study of some new models in the framework of location problems and in traffic problems with congestion, based on the works \cite{buguol} and \cite{bucagu}, in collaboration with Giuseppe Buttazzo, Guillaume Carlier and Fabrizio Oliviero. With the theory of optimal transport we can approach problems as optimization of transport networks, urban planning, location and irrigation, traffic models with congestion or concentration effects and many others.
