The research has focused on examining the Alta Valtiberina Toscana's landscape using remote sensing and GIS in order to recreate the landscape through different historical periods. This has been done using data from archives and bibliographies. A detailed attention has been given to defining old paths of river Tevere and of the other courses in the area which has had an influence in the landscape itself. The GIS has offered the possibility of consulting data of so different nature and origin (from cartography to archaeological data, digital elevation model etc etc.) and to make specific analysis on such data in order to reconstruct the main transformations that involved the area in a period of time that goes from roman era to today. Moreover, there has been the chance, very rare in archeology, offered by the Centro di Geotecnologie, Università degli Studi di Siena, to be able to use a dedicate flight (low fly with high resolution) with hyperspectral sensors CASI e AHS, which has been a fundamental element in obtaining precious information on the geomorphological aspects of the area.
