The Dittamondo was published in 1952 while unpublished is the extensive commentary G. Capello, tutor at the court of lords Estensi of Ferrara in the first half of the four hundred. The comment that the writer is a kind of encyclopedia study on which the members of the family Estense and is therefore ideal for us today the culture of the xv century in the court ferrara: therein lies its importance. Among the notes of Capello amount outstanding for those historical: are the notes to which the author has given more attention and, accordingly, are the most interesting for us. In fact, we are faced with a story often intertwined with the myth, as regards the centuries the oldest (see for example the foundation of Rome); for the years instead closer to the Capello the notes are about the sources of strong stimulus: as close to the known historical Paolo Diacono, characters are found as yet unknown.
