I frati Domenicani del convento pisano di Santa Caterina e la loro chiesa (1220 - 1350) attraverso le fonti documentarie e la Chronica di fra Domenico da Peccioli

Fra Tre e Quattrocento, il frate domenicano pisano Domenico da Peccioli raccolse i nome dei frati vissuti prima di lui e insieme con lui nel convento cittadino di S. Caterina, e scrisse un breve ritratto di ciascuno di loro. Questa tesi dimostra che Domenico considerò solo i frati che "appartenevano" al convento, perché qui avevano fatto la professione religiosa. Non tutti i frati elencati da Domenico compaiono nella documentazione archivistica; in essa, peraltro, troviamo un buon numero di altri frati. In complesso, sono documentati 441 frati che vissero nel convento pisano fra 1220 e 1350; mentre di più di altri 100 conosciamo solo il nome. Lo stesso materiale archivistico ci permette di seguire la costruzione della chiesa di S. Caterina e la sua sistemazione interna trecentesca. Between XIV and XV centuries, the dominican friar Domenico da Peccioli collected the names of the friars who lived in the pisan convent of S. Caterina before him and together with him, and wrote a short portrait of each of them. This doctoral thesis demostrates that Domenico took into consideration only those friars who really "belonged" to the pisan convent, because they entered the Dominican order there. Not all the friars listed by Domenico appear in archive documentation, but we find there a lot of other friars. On the whole, we know 441 friars who lived in the pisan convent between 1220 and 1350; of more than other 100 friars we have merely the name. The same archive material allows us to catch the building of the church of S. Caterina and its inner arrangement in the XIV century.
