This thesis investigates how Whispering Gallery Mode resonators (WGMR), in particular silica microspheres and microbubbles, can be used to study non linear phenomena and can operate as sensors, frequency converters and laser sources. Finally, a new method for coupling light to high-Q silica WGMRs, that is based on long period fiber gratings (LPGs), has been presented.
Non linear light-matter interactions and new coupling techniques in silica WGM optical resonators
2017
Abstract
This thesis investigates how Whispering Gallery Mode resonators (WGMR), in particular silica microspheres and microbubbles, can be used to study non linear phenomena and can operate as sensors, frequency converters and laser sources. Finally, a new method for coupling light to high-Q silica WGMRs, that is based on long period fiber gratings (LPGs), has been presented.File in questo prodotto:
