The present dissertation aims at analyzing a text genre in the medical field, the layperson summary of clinical trials, which should be written in Plain Language. The analysis is conducted from a linguistic and translatological point of view. The source texts examined are always in English; the corresponding Italian and German translations are taken into consideration, as well. The dissertation examines the lexical, terminological, morphosyntactic, textual and graphical level of these texts, as well as the presence of gender-inclusive language and the Universal of Explicitation in translation.
La presente tesi di dottorato ha l’obiettivo di analizzare un genere testuale in campo medico redatto in plain language, la sintesi di studi clinici per non esperti, da un punto di vista linguistico e traduttologico. I testi di partenza analizzati sono sempre in inglese; vengono poi presi in esame anche i corrispondenti testi di arrivo italiani e tedeschi. Gli aspetti considerati sono il lessico, la terminologia, la morfosintassi, il livello testuale e grafico, nonché la presenza di linguaggio inclusivo e l’universale dell’esplicitazione in traduzione.
