Essays on Socioeconomic Inequality

In this thesis I study socioeconomic inequalities with a focus on health. In the first two chapters I study the causes of these inequalities: first looking at geographic inequalities in health behavior, and then looking at historical inequalities in health behavior by different socioeconomic groups. The last chapter instead studies a policy that can reduce inequalities in access to the labor market and finds unexpected beneficial effects on victims of domestic violence.
