The analysis of spatialization strategies in the theatrical context allows to sketch a system of relations which involves: 1) the material aspects of a spatial dimension, which can be visible or invisible on scene; 2) one or more dramatic subjectivities, characterized by specific connotations, and who act into space; 3) one or more divine powers whose presence is alluded to by tragic language. The relation expressed by the triplet ‘space-action-divinity’ brings to composite spatial dimensions, whose caracter is deeply negotiated, a middle term between something concrete and mentalized. This we can call ‘dramatic landscape’, insisting on its components relationality and positionality, rooted into cultural categories producing and recieving the performance. A closer observation of case studies from the corpus of Attic tragedy allows to isolate some patterns in the representation of tragic landscape, giving landscape the status of theatrical communication device.
