The research topic is: asymmetries in careers based on gender The scientific literature shows that in Italy, gender inequality in careers is widespread in private and public companies, it follows that in the long run, work environments are rarely pleasant and safe for careers to women in top positions and, with the same conditions of entry, women are after 10/15/20 years of employment, are significantly behind in the organizational “pyramid” and in income generation. The research also explores “Constraints and Choices” in different groups of people working along both sides of the continuum “bad” jobs (self-employment, poorly paid, highly exploited and menial) and “good” jobs (formal contract, decent working conditions, regular and fair pay, pension scheme) using qualitative methods in Italy, Guatemala, Spain, UK and Switzerland and developing a collaborative approach, to gather stories and perspectives from the field. Within the “good jobs” women remain systematically and significantly lower in the pyramid. Obtaining practice-based data and knowledge is critical to achieve more inclusive and efficient work environments and provide a basis for designing innovative and targeted mentoring and counseling services for both man and woman to build a more inclusive work environment and both organizational and legislative hints for a more accessible career path to the diverse needs of workers.
Il tema della ricerca è: asimmetrie nelle carriere in base al genere La letteratura scientifica mostra che in Italia la disuguaglianza di genere nelle carriere è diffusa nelle aziende private e pubbliche; ne consegue che, nel lungo periodo, gli ambienti di lavoro sono raramente piacevoli e sicuri per le carriere femminili in posizioni apicali e, a parità di condizioni di ingresso, le donne, dopo 10/15/20 anni di lavoro, sono significativamente indietro nella “piramide” organizzativa e nella generazione di reddito. La ricerca esplora anche “Vincoli e scelte” in diversi gruppi di persone che lavorano lungo entrambi i lati del continuum “cattivi” lavori (lavoro autonomo, mal pagato, altamente sfruttato e umile) e “buoni” lavori (contratto formale, condizioni di lavoro dignitose, retribuzione regolare ed equa, regime pensionistico) utilizzando metodi qualitativi in Italia, Guatemala, Spagna, Regno Unito e Svizzera e sviluppando un approccio collaborativo, per raccogliere storie e prospettive dal campo. Nell'ambito dei “buoni lavori” le donne rimangono sistematicamente e significativamente più in basso nella piramide. Ottenere dati e conoscenze basati sulla pratica è fondamentale per ottenere ambienti di lavoro più inclusivi ed efficienti e fornire una base per progettare servizi di tutoraggio e consulenza innovativi e mirati sia per gli uomini che per le donne, al fine di costruire un ambiente di lavoro più inclusivo e suggerimenti organizzativi e legislativi per un percorso di carriera più accessibile alle diverse esigenze dei lavoratori.
