My dissertation aims to investigate the role of sublime in Adorno's aesthetics. The philosopher devotes only a few pages to the topic, scattered between Aesthetic Theory, Negative Dialectic, and his writings on music and literature (Notes on literature, Musikalische Schriften I-IV); however, it is possible to reconstruct a implicit theory of sublime that points out the central role of the category for Adorno's conception of art. The goal of my research is therefore to demonstrate that the adornian sublime is an aesthetic experience that embodies the costellation of elements of the determined negation, rendering corporeal the possibility of truth.

Abstract
My dissertation aims to investigate the role of sublime in Adorno's aesthetics. The philosopher devotes only a few pages to the topic, scattered between Aesthetic Theory, Negative Dialectic, and his writings on music and literature (Notes on literature, Musikalische Schriften I-IV); however, it is possible to reconstruct a implicit theory of sublime that points out the central role of the category for Adorno's conception of art. The goal of my research is therefore to demonstrate that the adornian sublime is an aesthetic experience that embodies the costellation of elements of the determined negation, rendering corporeal the possibility of truth.I documenti in UNITESI sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
