Islam in bilico. Crescere fra religione, mandati e aspirazioni in una comunità educativa per adolescenti migranti (minori stranieri non accompagnati) a Milano.

This ethnography analyses the role of Islam in the life trajectories of unaccompanied foreign minors (MSNA) in a reception community in Milan. The research was conducted through participant observation by a researcher working as an educator in the community. The thesis is therefore structured around two strands of analysis. Firstly, it examines the structural ambivalence of the reception system and the implicit pedagogical approaches that emerge in daily life, revealing a dual constraint. Secondly, it analyses how migrant adolescents, caught between the demands of their host community and their family of origin, find their own way of dealing with the constraints they face. In this framework, Islam also appears ambivalent. It is a constraint that cannot be rescinded and which can weigh on the path, but it is also a resource that can be used to survive and complete the migratory journey.

La tesi analizza il ruolo dell’islam nelle traiettorie di vita dei minori stranieri non accompagnati (MSNA) ospiti in una comunità di accoglienza a Milano. La ricerca è stata svolta in un un doppio posizionamento, poiché l’osservazione partecipante è stata condotta dal ricercatore in quanto educatore della comunità. La tesi, pertanto, si struttura su due filoni di analisi. Da una parte, si approfondisce l’ambivalenza strutturale del sistema di accoglienza e delle pedagogie implicite generate nella quotidianità, mostrando la presenza di un doppio vincolo. Dall’altra, si analizza come gli adolescenti migranti, intrappolati nel doppio mandato fra richieste del mondo di accoglienza e richieste della famiglia di origine, trovano il loro modo di gestire tutti i vincoli che li stringono. L’islam, in questo quadro, appare anch’esso nella sua ambivalenza. La religione è, infatti, un vincolo che non si può rescindere e che può pesare sul percorso, ma allo stesso tempo una risorsa da utilizzare per sopravvivere e portare a compimento l’impresa migratoria.
