Abstract
Aim: Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) has been proposed to designate an early, but abnormal state of cognitive impairment. Various clinical subtypes of MCI ave been described:a-MCI (amnesic)
md-MCI (more cognitive functions are impaired)
md-MCI + a ( more cognitive functions are impaired + memory)
md-MCI †" a ( more cognitive functions are impaired - memory) MCI with an isolated cognitive function impairment different of Memory.
Methods: We assessed a group of 60 individuals who reported mild cognitive disorders. A set of standardized tests was employed for psychometric assessment. The patients also underwent haematic and neuroimaging tests, as advised by the dementia diagnosis guidelines.
Results: for 31.6% the psychometric assessment result normal. 68.3 % were diagnosed with MCI: 53 % a-MCI, 7,3% MCI with an isolated cognitive function impairment different of memory, 7.3% md-MCI †" a and 31.6% md-MCI + a.
Conclusions: memory impairment is the most frequently cognitive deficit found in the examinated patients, which can be isolated or associated to more cognitive functions impairment.
