This thesis aims to rethink the aesthetics of landscape through the key concepts of production and narration. These concepts are used to highlight a specific interaction between the ways in which the world is imagined and the systems and techniques of production through which it modified and build. In order to position the thesis discourse within the philosophical debate, the analysis first identifies three main issues that allow for the observation of how landscape is the site of a chiasm between nature and culture. From this perspective, the thesis seeks to demonstrate, on the one hand, how nature is always understood and artificially constructed by a specific culture, and, on the other hand, how it is possible to situate any culture within its connection to nature. After that, modernity is identified as the specific historical period in which the concept of landscape emerges. Indeed, in this background it becomes evident that the root of landscape lies a recognition of a fracture between human beings and nature, between ancient knowledge and modern science. This gap is presented as the very essence of landscape, conceived as a boundary between nature and culture. Moreover, it is characteristic of modernity to engage in a process of maquillage, whereby the concept of nature, instead of being the result of a cultural invention, tends to appear as its opposite: an objectivity independent of any subjective imaginative gaze. The argument then analyzes several so-called reflective objects, highlighting their capacity to build the cultural sphere through which human beings comprehend and transform their environment: the concept of landscape and the concept of scope as a result of building an environment, are interrelated, becoming the central issue that allows for the analysis of the contemporary philosophical debate on the environment, which defines itself in opposition to modernity, in order to reconsider the premises of the ecological crisis.

Abstract
The argument then analyzes several so-called reflective objects, highlighting their capacity to build the cultural sphere through which human beings comprehend and transform their environment: the concept of landscape and the concept of scope as a result of building an environment, are interrelated, becoming the central issue that allows for the analysis of the contemporary philosophical debate on the environment, which defines itself in opposition to modernity, in order to reconsider the premises of the ecological crisis.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
