The aim of this thesis has been the development of composite polymeric nanoparticles and their application as optical sensors. The first part of the work presents and discusses the current state of the art of photonic crystals (PhCs) and their sensing applications especially when PhCs are integrated with optical fiber technology. Successively, in the second and third part the development of novel optical fiber sensors based on photonic crystals structures and their application to humidity and a biological measurements are discussed. Finally, the synthesis of magnetite composite nanoparticles with different technique was discussed and morphology characterization was carried out.

Abstract
The aim of this thesis has been the development of composite polymeric nanoparticles and their application as optical sensors. The first part of the work presents and discusses the current state of the art of photonic crystals (PhCs) and their sensing applications especially when PhCs are integrated with optical fiber technology. Successively, in the second and third part the development of novel optical fiber sensors based on photonic crystals structures and their application to humidity and a biological measurements are discussed. Finally, the synthesis of magnetite composite nanoparticles with different technique was discussed and morphology characterization was carried out.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
