Aegritudo Perdicae: introduzione, testo critico, traduzione e commento

This dissertation offers a new critical edition of the Aegritudo Perdicae, an anonymous poem of 290 hexameters, preserved in a severely corrupt form by a single sixteenth-century manuscript. The introductory chapters address the principal historical and literary questions raised by the text: its thematic content, narrative structure, and literary models; the issues of attribution and dating; its linguistic, stylistic and metrical features. The introduction concludes with an examination of the sole surviving manuscript (Harleianus 3685) and a study of the reception of the Aegritudo Perdicae in early medieval literature. The second part of the dissertation presents the newly established critical text, accompanied by a full critical apparatus and an Italian translation. The core of the work is represented by the detailed commentary, which engages with the text on a verse-by-verse basis, elucidating philological, linguistic, and literary aspects, and thereby situating the poem within the broader cultural and literary landscape of Late Antiquity.

La presente tesi di dottorato offre una nuova edizione critica dell’Aegritudo Perdicae, un anonimo poemetto narrativo di 290 esametri trasmesso in forma estremamente corrotta da un unico manoscritto di XVI secolo. Lo studio si apre con un'introduzione generale nella quale sono affrontate le principali questioni storico-letterarie: contenuto, struttura e modelli, attribuzione e datazione, lingua e stile, metrica. Chiude la sezione introduttiva un'analisi dell'unico testimone manoscritto (l'Harleianus 3685) e un'indagine sulla presenza di Aegritudo Perdicae nella letteratura alto-medievale. Segue poi il testo critico con apparato, accompagnato da traduzione italiana e, infine, il commento, che costituisce il nucleo di questo lavoro e che prende in considerazione i principali aspetti filologici, linguistici e letterari relativi ai singoli versi.
