The physics of Electron Cyclotron Resonance (ECR) plasmas is an inherently multidisciplinary field, connecting atomic and nuclear physics, astrophysics, and advanced technological applications. In this context, the PANDORA project aims to employ magnetically confined ECR plasmas as a novel experimental environment for nuclear physics and nuclear astrophysics, with particular emphasis on investigating β- decay processes in ionized media under conditions of astrophysical relevance.
La fisica dei plasmi ECR (Electron Cyclotron Resonance) rappresenta un ambito di ricerca multidisciplinare, che connette fisica atomica e nucleare, astrofisica e tecnologie avanzate. In questo contesto, il progetto PANDORA mira a impiegare plasmi ECR confinati magneticamente come un nuovo ambiente sperimentale per la fisica nucleare e l’astrofisica nucleare, con particolare attenzione allo studio dei processi di decadimento β in ambiente ionizzato, in condizioni di rilevanza astrofisica.
