This thesis explores the psychological foundations of sustainability in Family Businesses (FBs) through a mixed-method research design. In the exploratory phase, a constructivist Grounded Theory approach made it possible to identify the psychosocial processes underlying sustainable commitment in FBs, highlighting the role of entrepreneurial identity, values, attitudes, and motivations. In the subsequent phase, the emerging model was translated into a quantitative instrument and validated through confirmatory factor analysis. The findings show that sustainability in FBs is experienced both as a strategic choice and as an expression of a value-based orientation rooted in family history and identity. The study contributes to expanding the dominant literature—largely grounded in economic and managerial perspectives—by proposing an integrated psychological framework. It also outlines practical implications for supporting family businesses in their sustainable transition.

Abstract
It also outlines practical implications for supporting family businesses in their sustainable transition.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
