This doctoral thesis concerns the depictions of myths attested in Corinthian vase-painting of the Archaic Period, with a specific focus on the depictions of the Trojan saga. On the one hand, it aims to understand how Corinthians represented traditional myths through images, detecting the iconographic schemes adopted by the artisans and analysing their peculiar features. On the other hand, the main purpose of this work is to try to understand the social meaning of the vases decorated with scenes inspired by traditional myths, considering them as part of a complex anthropological phenomenon. In fact, they played an essential role in the major events of Greek social life, precisely because of the strong socio-cultural significance of myth and epos.
