The thesis proposes a reinterpretation of Olivetti's experience in light of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, placing itself at the intersection between business studies, digital transformation, industrial relations and political theory. The aim of this work is not simply to provide a historical reconstruction of the Olivetti’s experience, but rather to investigate whether it might represent a model that remains valid today for a ‘socially sustainable’ transition. The study firstly provides a comprehensive and rigorous overview of the current state of the art regarding both the Industry 4.0 paradigm and the debate on sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Subsequently, it integrates this with the literature on the Olivetti experience. The research was carried out using a combination of a review of literary sources, archival sources and theoretical writings by Adriano Olivetti himself. The choice of methodology adopted – a combination of historical-documentary and theoretical-reconstructive approaches – appears appropriate to the initial objectives of this work. The thesis demonstrates how the Olivetti experience can offer relevant insights for contemporary reflection on participatory corporate governance and on the centrality of knowledge in the current digital transition. The most original aspect is the identification of a specific dimension that promises to offer interesting insights not only for contemporary businesses, but also for our society as a whole. It is the dimension of worker participation in the Olivetti business, which is analysed in terms of two distinct aspects: the “democratic participation” and the “cognitive participation”.

Abstract
It is the dimension of worker participation in the Olivetti business, which is analysed in terms of two distinct aspects: the “democratic participation” and the “cognitive participation”.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
