The categories of “anirāni,” “khāsseh,” and “enqelābi” accommodate a theoretical framework for delineating three historical phases, making it possible to pursue the continuity of Iranian-Armenian relations: from the emergence of dynastic Iran as an idea, through the period of Islamic expansion, and finally to the assertion of constitutionalism under a national quest. Read together, these stages allow for a transhistorical perspective of center-periphery dynamics, that of places and movements, up to an ending phase of the Iranian empires by the Qajar period. The present study builds on the same premise, through a genuine combination of primary sources and scholarly interpretations in Iranian and Armenian studies, to propose that “nested historiographies” may serve as tools for constructing an analytical approach. By examining lieux de mémoire and overlapping trajectories as comparative cases, the research highlights the persistence of analogous patterns, particularly in the perception of boundary-crossers and the provisioning of the Iranian North-West borderlands with regard to Armenia and the Armenians. Beyond a merely “croisée” engagement with concepts such as belonging, allegiance, and circulation, the discussions privilege also the rendering of “continuity” not as a problematic rupture but as a methodological solution for structuring network-oriented pilot analyses. Such an approach, settled to remain accessible both to academic and vernacular registers, facilitates the bridging of historical blocs that otherwise appear disconnected. Its significance lies not only in unbinding Iranian-Armenian entanglements from chronologically-constrained biased clichés, but also in steering both Iranian and Armenian studies away from predispositions of discursive historiographical patronage, toward a more integrated and enduring conception.

Abstract
Its significance lies not only in unbinding Iranian-Armenian entanglements from chronologically-constrained biased clichés, but also in steering both Iranian and Armenian studies away from predispositions of discursive historiographical patronage, toward a more integrated and enduring conception.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
