This research outlines the evolution of the concept of the performative as an interdisciplinary field of study aimed at investigating the relationship between the visual arts, theatre, and the exhibition space. Drawing on a terminological and theoretical reconstruction, the study focuses on the Performative Turn that emerged in the second half of the twentieth century and progressively undermined established boundaries in favour of cross-disciplinary practices oriented towards the production of events and situations. In this perspective, the performative is not conceived as a category of artwork, but as a conceptual approach that articulates space, time, architecture, media, and the spectator, thereby redefining the notion of art and the function of the exhibition space. The field of investigation is circumscribed to three exhibitions organised by Fondazione Prada between 1998 and 2017, considered as case studies through which the exhibition is analysed as a performative, hybrid, and mobile apparatus. Using elements traditionally associated with theatre – staging, scenography, theatricality – the research examines their capacity to reorganise the experience of the artwork and its relationship with the public. The research project shows how scenography and exhibition project can assume a critical function, configuring the exhibition as a process-based construction and a space for reflection on contemporary practices through the institutional example of Fondazione Prada.

Abstract
The research project shows how scenography and exhibition project can assume a critical function, configuring the exhibition as a process-based construction and a space for reflection on contemporary practices through the institutional example of Fondazione Prada.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
