The realm of Life represents the most challenging phenomenology both against the tools available in scientific theoretical and experimental equipment, and for the postulated “non-overlapping-magisteria” (NOMA, in the words by Stephen J. Gould, with my deep disagreement) according to which scientific knowledge should be distinguished and separated by other field of the human experience. Along my personal research I noticed more and more that those aspects of living dynamics which remain ungraspable to the empirical check, are risking to be more and more excluded from the scientific inquiry which should actually aim to seize what is essential in engendering the emergence of Life. It’s not an opinion of mine only, that contemporary biology reached a sort of “bottleneck” into the comprehension of what is a living system, and medicine as well, seems not having clear so much how health and disease take place on the scene, thus not even always how really to intervene for maintain the first one. This is not a destructive (not even arrogant) critics, on the contrary it’s the first admission which should be done by everybody of us as a trigger-point to make the quality leap. Indeed, the problem is no more only in cataloguing the genes, the proteins and all the biochemical paths, but rather in wondering why they occur and behave as we can observe, that is: extraordinarily ordered and perfectly apt to carry out the needed tasks (having a biological "meaning"). And here the dialectics opens up between the self-forging of structure and function (mistakenly, still classically, divided). The aim of my work is, therefore, at least double: • to provide a review of all the most meaningful researches supporting a field view of reality and life • to allow anyone who’ll come after me to start from a more advanced point to go further in such an important research program, which still needs of many deeper insights and checks, in regard of both the formal aspects of Preparata’s QED theory of liquid water, and the experimental activity.
