Hate speaker, target di hate speech e libertà di espressione. Concettualizzazioni non oppositive

This work is a political-philosophical analysis of hate speech. I’ll explore a possible conceptualization of the identity of the hate speakers and targets of hate speech. If hate is expressed through hate speech, its theoretical implications are investigated in terms of freedom of speech within a liberal-democratic framework. It is for this purpose that both hate speakers and targets are analyzed as speakers. I’ll offer a conceptualization of a multiform freedom of speech: the ascriptive characteristics, through which targets of hate speech are identifiable as such, are speculatively investigated in the same way for the so-called hate speakers. If the former are paradigmatically members of minority groups, are the latter members of the majority group? In liberal-democracies, is hatred expressed merely by some individuals, and not by others? Through these questions, this work analyses the conceptual status of hatred within the notion of hate speech.

Questo lavoro propone una riflessione filosofico-politica sulla questione dello hate speech. Il soggetto hate speaker e il soggetto target o destinatario di hate speech sono analizzati con lo scopo di profilare una possibile concettualizzazione della loro identità. Se odio viene espresso attraverso lo hate speech, ci si chiede quali possano essere le implicazioni teoriche in termini di libertà di espressione entro società liberal-democratiche. È a tal scopo che i soggetti analizzabili entro la questione dello hate speech sono indagati entrambi quali speaker. Una concettualizzazione di multiforme libertà di espressione viene proposta: le caratteristiche ascrittive, tramite cui i destinatari di hate speech sono individuabili come tali, sono utilizzate speculativamente allo stesso modo per i cosiddetti hate speaker. Se i primi sono paradigmaticamente membri di gruppi minoritari, i secondi sono di contro membri del gruppo maggioritario? L’odio espresso è meramente proprio di alcuni soggetti politici, e non di altri? Tramite queste domande, il lavoro in questione si sviluppa con lo scopo di indagare lo status concettuale dell’odio entro la nozione di hate speech.
