During this three years of research I have explored the potential of ECAP (equal channel angular pressing), a technique of strong deformation potentially able to strengthen the technological process of warm painting and warm extrusion of an aluminium alloy (AA3004), that is actually very use to reach this goals. This work has exploited the techniques and the methods followed. It was shown how the use of ECAP prior rolling and extrusion is prone to improve the performances, both in the warm rolling and in the warm extrusion of this alloy. In the first part of this research the goal was, not only to explore the possibility to improve the mechanics propriety in the rolling of aluminium alloys, but also to give some information about ECAP, to explain how this method could be used in a productive rolling process. In the second phase the influence of ECAP process in the warm extrusion was studied. An important point was to understand whether a strong deformation, before the extrusion, could solve the abnormal grain growth on the surface during the extrusion process, or not
Il lavoro di ricerca dei tre anni di dottorato è stato dedicato ad esplorare le potenzialità della tecnica ECAP (equal channel angular pressing), una tecnica di severa deformazione plastica, nei processi tecnologici di stampaggio a caldo ed estrusione a caldo di una lega di alluminio AA3004, che attualmente è molto impiegata per tali scopi. Questa tesi di dottorato illustra le tecniche e le modalità seguite per tali finalità. Si è visto che sia nello stampaggio a caldo che nell’estrusione a caldo di questa lega, esistono condizioni ECAP, pre-stampaggio e pre-estrusione, in grado di migliorarne le prestazioni.
