The purpose of this research is to analyze odeporic literature texts written by travelers who had the opportunity to visit the city of Genoa, focusing their descriptions on the artistic and architectural beauties that constitute the city's cultural heritage. The novelty of this research lies in the realization of a systematic study aimed at highlighting quotations concerning Genoa in odeporic literature texts, with particular attention to artistic elements, circumscribing the period of interest from the 16th to the 18th century. The selection of literary texts was based on both the cultural diversity of the visitors examined and the type of work published, in order to provide a more comprehensive view of urban itineraries and descriptions of artistic heritage. In particular, the routes traced by travelers in their odeporic works, the ways in which the Genoese art scene was described, and the interest shown by visitors in the artistic and architectural elements of the city were examined. Data collected through the systematic study of odeporic literature texts have been used to develop digital applications that can guide tourists and art-savvy scholars through interactive digital maps. These digital applications offer a new and engaging way to explore the city, allowing users to discover and explore Genoa's artistic and architectural heritage through the words of ancient travelers.
