This thesis focuses on the relation of two, at first sight conflicting terms: Holocaust and comic art. Following a chronological approach, I will analyse the reception of the Shoah in cartoons and comics. The first part of the thesis discusses cartoons in selected Yiddish newspapers which were published in New York during World War II.The second part gives a wider perspective on comics, starting with the first works after 1945 (e.g. Mickey au camp de Gurs and La bête est morte!) to currently published graphic novels.
