This thesis explores an aspect of Antonio Rosmini’s philosophical work not extensively covered by the literature, namely the topic of beauty and art. From early essay Sull'idillio to the more mature Teosofia, the author’s last unfinished work, the philosopher from Rovereto is part of the nineteenth-century debate between Classical and Romantic tenets, where in particular he develops a new proposal for Christian poetry and reflects on the relationship between realism and idealism in art. The central argument of this dissertation is that the aesthetic reflection of Rosmini presents a substantial continuity in time, even if the early literary interests are then gradually deepened by a more complete and mature metaphysical framework.

Abstract
This thesis explores an aspect of Antonio Rosmini’s philosophical work not extensively covered by the literature, namely the topic of beauty and art. From early essay Sull'idillio to the more mature Teosofia, the author’s last unfinished work, the philosopher from Rovereto is part of the nineteenth-century debate between Classical and Romantic tenets, where in particular he develops a new proposal for Christian poetry and reflects on the relationship between realism and idealism in art. The central argument of this dissertation is that the aesthetic reflection of Rosmini presents a substantial continuity in time, even if the early literary interests are then gradually deepened by a more complete and mature metaphysical framework.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
