The present work investigates the concepts and the practice of Walter Benjamin's Kunstkritik, to prove how coherent and essential the concept of art (literature) criticism – that the author develops during the years 1919-1925 and expecially in the three basic works Der Begriff der Kunstkritik in der deutschen Romantik, Goethes Wahlverwandtschaften, Ursprung des deutschen Trauerspiels – is in range of his global activity; furthermore the aim is to demonstrate the originality and the exemplarity of the concepts of criticism developped in the Wahlverwandtschaften-essay compared with those “analogous” enhanced in the Trauerspiel-book.
