La costruzione del mondo storico in Wilhelm Dilthey. Ermeneutica e storia

The present work aims to contribute to Diltheyan studies on the theme of history and hermeneutics. The study focussed on those partially neglected texts by the critic in relation to the subject matter. In particular, the first two chapters are dedicated to the analysis of Dilthey's philosophical frame work, thus showing the continuity in his thought, from the Einleitung in die Geisteswissenschaften of 1882, through to the essay Leben und Erkennen. Ein Entwurf zur erkenntnistheoretischen Logik und Kategorienlehre of 1892-93 (medium -Dilthey), up to the last period of Dilthey's work. This study sets out to examine what is called the "medium Dilthey period" (covering the nineties of the nineteenth century). It is in effect possible to review the entire interpretation of Dilthey's work out of these writings. In particular Leben und Erkennen can be considered as a fundamental building block towards understanding the attempt to establish the sciences of the spirit, to create an epistemological logic, that is finally bio-logic, ontological logic. The third and fourth chapters consider the role Dilthey's thought has had in relation to Heidegger's philosophy on the one hand, and to the problem of metaphysics and philosophy on the other. The prospects opened up by Dilthey and present in Heidegger have also been analysed, together with the questions posed by the two philosophers, concerning the present, history, and the destination of the human being.
