This work restores the way that brought Verona into the Unesco World Heritage List (WHL), that is a roll containing a set of places that Unesco recognizes as mankind heritage. The research study, carried out with unpublished files, explains history, values and role of the WHL and than it focuses on Verona showing, through the speedings up and slowings down of the course, how much is important to be called Unesco to the city agencies and authorities. Finally it looks into the effects this recognition has had, showing how Unesco brand is not much known and still little exploited in a city that traditionally goes on with advertising itself especially as “the city of love”, connected with Shakespeare’s myth of Romeo and Juliet.
