L’EPINOMIDE: L’ULTIMA BOZZA DI UN DIALOGO - Commentario storico-filosofico

This work proposes a re-translation of the text of Epinomis and an historical-philosophical analysis of it, in the belief that there are still margins to be able to offer a new and more comprehensive interpretation: for a long time, in fact, this text has enjoyed little interest because of its alleged lack of authenticity. The main reason for this lack of interest in the Epinomis derives from the fact that it is not considered a genuine work of Plato but, rather, the result of an academic, a certain Philip of Opus. In this scenery, a dual hypothesis led this work: on one hand, try to determine if there are supports that the Epinomis contains themes clearly attributable to Plato and, on the other hand, try to determine whether this work, while genuine, is not a script ready for publication, but only a sketch not revised. The text of Epinomis has allowed us to find sufficient evidence to confirm our initial working hypothesis revealing, at the content level, many points of tangency with the Platonic thought and, at the formal level, a clear and defined structure, despite some difficulties of translation that seems, however, perfectly understandable when you consider the state of sketch the work.
