This study explores the critical role of ergonomic principles in the design of complex railway systems. By examining the integration of ergonomic considerations in the task analysis of control room operators, the naming conventions of train station elements, and the train drivers interfaces, this study addresses how to enhance safety, improve efficiency, and ensure the well-being of operators in different railway contexts. Utilizing a comprehensive review of current practices alongside case studies, the study discusses the implications of design on reducing operator fatigue and minimizing human error . The results of the three cases, derived from concrete problems posed by major industrial players, suggest that a holistic approach to ergonomics in railways can lead to significant improvements in operational performance through precise design choices.

Abstract
This study explores the critical role of ergonomic principles in the design of complex railway systems. By examining the integration of ergonomic considerations in the task analysis of control room operators, the naming conventions of train station elements, and the train drivers interfaces, this study addresses how to enhance safety, improve efficiency, and ensure the well-being of operators in different railway contexts. Utilizing a comprehensive review of current practices alongside case studies, the study discusses the implications of design on reducing operator fatigue and minimizing human error . The results of the three cases, derived from concrete problems posed by major industrial players, suggest that a holistic approach to ergonomics in railways can lead to significant improvements in operational performance through precise design choices.I documenti in UNITESI sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
