The aim of this paper is to demonstrate that the number of graphical connections between the various Aegean syllabic writings of the Bronze and Iron ages allows the grouping of them all into one single family of writing systems. This enables to propose phonetical values for a large majority of the graphemes found in the still undeciphered syllabaries, by connecting them to Linear B and Cypriot Syllabary signs, already deciphered. Every syllabary can also be compared with all the remaining ones, in order to determinate some of its peculiarities not shared with the others.

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to demonstrate that the number of graphical connections between the various Aegean syllabic writings of the Bronze and Iron ages allows the grouping of them all into one single family of writing systems. This enables to propose phonetical values for a large majority of the graphemes found in the still undeciphered syllabaries, by connecting them to Linear B and Cypriot Syllabary signs, already deciphered. Every syllabary can also be compared with all the remaining ones, in order to determinate some of its peculiarities not shared with the others.
