My PhD project focused on the development and characterization of new anti-influenza compounds in the attempt to fulfil the clinical need for novel potent therapeutics endowed with a high barrier to drug-resistance. In particular, it mainly pursued two research lines: the characterization of novel antivirals acting as inhibitors of the interaction between the viral RNA polymerase subunits PA and PB1, and the biological evaluation of new derivatives of the anti-influenza drug oseltamivir.

Abstract

My PhD project focused on the development and characterization of new anti-influenza compounds in the attempt to fulfil the clinical need for novel potent therapeutics endowed with a high barrier to drug-resistance. In particular, it mainly pursued two research lines: the characterization of novel antivirals acting as inhibitors of the interaction between the viral RNA polymerase subunits PA and PB1, and the biological evaluation of new derivatives of the anti-influenza drug oseltamivir.
