The PhD thesis "The iconography of Venice in British and American photography (1880-1910)" explores the metamorphosis of the city representation through the analisis of several iconographic, bibliographical and archival materials held in Italian, British and American institutions. Different types of photographs (commercial photography, pictorial photography, illustrated books, amateur photography) are considered, as well as influences and interactions between photography and other visual arts such as painting and etching.
