The Spanish romances of chivalry reached a remarkable popularity during the XVI century. In the wake of the recent reassessment of the genre, which in the last 30 years has caught the attention of the critics, my study consists in an edition and analysis of Florisel de Niquea (first and second part, Valladolid, 1532), a romance of chivalry written by Feliciano de Silva (ca. 1490-1558), one the authors who contributed most to the achievement of the libros de caballerías. The aim of the study preceding the edition is to situate Feliciano de Silva's work in its context, tracing his life and background and giving an overview of his literary production, and to attempt a narratological analysis of the book.
