This Doctoral Thesis deals with the forms of the modern Fantastic in Spanish contemporary theatre. The dissertation aims to underline the analogies between the fantastic «mode» and the dramatic performance and writing. The work is also focused on the identification and the analysis of essential fantastic themes and characters - such as the dream, the unheimlich, the ghost, the vampire, the wolfman -, in Spanish plays. Among the playwrights who have been studied: Ramón del Valle-Inclán, Pedro Salinas, Alejandro Casona, Francisco Nieva, Alfonso Sastre, Laila Ripoll, Ernesto Caballero.

Abstract
