This work has been developed to highlight the importance of an integrated approach between geological and geophysical data in the construction of 2D and 3D subsoil models. This approach allows the best of the information available from both datasets for different research areas and in the new field of engineering applications. In this work several case studies will be presented, in which the implementation of pre-existing datasets through geophysical methodologies has been aimed at a more detailed definition of the subsoil in areas of alluvial and coastal plain of Sicily. First is presented the case study of the plain of Palermo in which a 3D model of the area near the Oreto river is reconstructed. This first case is presented to show how the integrated geological and geophysical approach can be used in urban contexts by better describing paleo morphologies masked by the urban network. A second part of the work is focused on the construction of water bodies in the province of Messina; also, in this case the geological data were coupled with geophysical data. In the specific case of soil 3D-models of soil resistance, after integration with other geological and geophysical data, it was possible to define the thicknesses of alluvial coverings. A third part of the work is devoted to the case study of the coastal plains of the peninsula of San Vito Lo Capo, in the province of Trapani. In this field, geological and geophysical data were interpreted and processed together to define a preliminary study for the computing of the local seismic response.

Abstract
In this field, geological and geophysical data were interpreted and processed together to define a preliminary study for the computing of the local seismic response.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
