This thesis explores different tetrabutylammonium decatungstate (TBADT) photocatalyzed processes for the functionalization of different electron-poor olefins: alkenoic acids/esters (fumaric/citraconic acid, monomethyl/monoethyl fumarate; Chapter 2), α-imino esters (Chapter 3), β-nitroalkenes (Chapter 4), allenoates (Chapter 5) and crotonic acid/esters (methyl/ethyl crotonate; Chapter 6). Reactions were performed using potentially bio-based hydrogen donors, such as oxygen heterocycles (e.g., tetrahydrofuran) and aromatic aldehydes (e.g., vanillin). Regarding Chapter 6, the substrates were employed either in their commercially available form or as actual bio-based derivatives, obtained through the thermolytic distillation of PHB (a biopolymer produced by bacteria, in collaboration with B-Plas). Finally, bio-based crotonic acid was further valorized in polymerization processes.

Regarding Chapter 6, the substrates were employed either in their commercially available form or as actual bio-based derivatives, obtained through the thermolytic distillation of PHB (a biopolymer produced by bacteria, in collaboration with B-Plas). Finally, bio-based crotonic acid was further valorized in polymerization processes.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
