I Faits des Romains in Italia: studio della tradizione manoscritta.

The aim of this Thesis is to study the manuscript tradition of the Faits des Romains in Italy, with particular attention to its origin and fortune, as well as the relationships between the manuscripts produced in the Peninsula and their framing in the overall circulation of the work. The study is based on the philological analysis of the witnesses, which allowed to propose an updated arrangement of the Italian manuscript tradition of the work. There is also a partial edition of three episodes of the Faits des Romains, based on the manuscript Chantilly, Bibliothèque du Château, 726, corrected with the other Italian witnesses. An analysis of the scripta of the same manuscript follows along with some hypotheses on the relations between the main areas of diffusion of the Faits in Italy and the French Oitanic domain. Overall, the Thesis aims to bring new insights into the aspects of the manuscript tradition and to the external elements of the Faits des Romains.

L’obiettivo di questa Tesi è studiare la tradizione manoscritta dei Faits des Romains in Italia, con particolare attenzione alla sua origine e alla sua fortuna, oltre che ai rapporti tra i codici prodotti nella Penisola e al loro inquadramento nella circolazione complessiva dell’opera. Lo studio è stato costruito principalmente sull’analisi filologica dei testimoni, che ha permesso, attraverso un lavoro di collazione e ricerca dei luoghi critici, di proporre una sistemazione aggiornata della tradizione manoscritta italiana dell’opera. È presente anche un’edizione parziale di tre episodi dei Faits des Romains, costruita sul manoscritto base Chantilly, Bibliothèque du Château, 726, corretto con le lezioni degli altri codici italiani. Segue un’analisi della scripta dello stesso testimone, accompagnata da alcune ipotesi sui rapporti tra le aree di principale diffusione dei Faits in Italia e il dominio oitanico francese. Nel complesso, la Tesi mira a portare nuovi spunti sugli aspetti della tradizione manoscritta e sugli elementi esterni dei Faits des Romains.
