It has become increasingly common for movies to use scientific theories to provide a plausible basis for the story being told. This narrative device is often used in disaster movies, to provide viewers with a scientific or seemingly scientific explanation of what is happening in the movie. The purpose of directors and screenwriters is to avoid making the phenomenon described appear as an impossible and inexplicable situation. Potentially any scientific area could be of interest to a movie, as long as it adheres to primary objectives that typically guide the production of Hollywood movies. In fact, such works are usually more centered on creating something able to entertain, rather than works aimed at informing on scientific aspects, except in movies with a clear documentary intent. However, in recent years it has become increasingly more common for directors and screenwriters to pay more attention to specific topics, especially those discussed in public debates, even when creating works aimed solely at entertaining the public. Despite the growing interest in scientifically accurate movies, directors and screenwriters often take creative liberties to make their movies engaging to the audience, rather than simply informative. This compromise forms the basis of the narrative structure in many movies, where viewers accept the explanation of events without being overly concerned with their scientific accuracy. The purpose of movies is, after all, to entertain viewers, and science can certainly provide many elements of entertainment. However, in recent years, due to the increased availability of information via the Internet, many enthusiasts are trying to scientifically analyze these movies and determine which ones correspond to known scientific laws. My contribution will focus not only on the possibility of producing scientifically plausible movies, but also on the possibility or impossibility of using these movies as a means of disseminating scientific knowledge, and also potentially useful information in the event of a disaster. In order to analyze this topic as comprehensively as possible, I have selected five main movies, paying attention to which areas of science embodies the fundamental aspects of the movie, and therefore selecting five different scientific areas around which the events described in the various works analyzed are structured. A sixth movie, which includes scientific elements but focuses primarily on science popularization and negationism, was added to the five originally planned.

Abstract
A sixth movie, which includes scientific elements but focuses primarily on science popularization and negationism, was added to the five originally planned.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
