This study investigates the reception of Aristarchus of Samothrace’s exegetical and critical-philological method within the D scholia to the Iliad. It focuses on the historiae preserved in these scholia—mythical narratives derived from a corpus traditionally identified as the Mythographus Homericus. Starting with the case study of sch. D Il. 5.385, where a methodological statement attributed to Aristarchus is followed by a historia seemingly illustrating its application to the Homeric passage, the research explores how these mythical narratives are recontextualized and reinterpreted within the D scholia. The aim is to identify points of convergence between the historiae and Aristarchus’s exegetical method, as well as his broader theoretical framework, which includes Aristotelian literary theory and the intellectual legacy of the Peripatetic school. Ultimately, the study offers a comprehensive analysis and cultural-intellectual contextualization of the exegetical foundations underlying the historiae in the D scholia to the Iliad.
