This dissertation is titled “From Physics to the Algorithm: Is this a move towards a New Paradigm of Work Regulation?” and deals with the impact that technological innovation – which is broadly defined as ‘Digital Revolution of Work’ or ‘the Forth Industrial Revolution’ – will have on Labour law and some of its main features. The nature of the topic has led the author to make use of a comparative approach, which is both diachronic and synchronic in character. For this reason, the timeframe that has been considered for comparative purposes has been the period from 1980s to 2017, with emphasis that has been given to relevant research concerning the relationship between labour law and net technologies. Through comparison, a review has been offered of relevant research, with the author who provides an analysis of views of labour law scholars, both in terms of differences and commonalities, concerning the relationship between technology and labour law, which to some extent proves to have a genetic and twofold nature. After going through the differences and the common elements characterising such views, the dissertation offers a systematic investigation of some innovative aspects, which have been drawn by the analysis of relevant literature and the examination of the new reality of work.
