Abstract

I have described the seismic and morphobathymetric data acquisition, the boats used for the geophysical surveys, the reference system, a short description of the methodologies, and then in detail the instruments and the surveys of every high-resolution methodology which has been examined during the Ph.D. Chapter 4 ࢠGeophysical data processing and times-depth conversion. For each methodology I have described the procedures of calibration system and data processing, and the operations for times to depth conversion, using the stratigraphies of geognostic surveys. Chapter 5 - The geological and geomorphological interpretation: results and discussion, begins with a qualitative assessment between the Sub-bottom Boomer and the Chirp methodologies, continuing with the seismic-stratigraphic analysis of the Boomer seismic sections, evaluated with a better resolution and penetration. The seismic interpretation provide the identification of the Flysch bedrock, characterized by escarpments and shore platforms of marine erosion and tectonic origin and by inverse faults related to the coastal Dinaric thrust. Different acoustic facies have been identified in the Quaternary sediment: the sub-aerial surface dating back to the Wàƒ¼rm glacial maximum overlying by marine deposit and close to the coast by the Holocenic prograding wedge of HST, the 45-50 m deep prograding wedge of HST probably related, according to the eustatic curves, to the base of the Late Pleistocene (125.000 year B.P.). Then, it is described the bathymetric and geo-morphological interpretation of the areas of Miramare and Cedas, together with the DTM created by the Multibeam data, the identified elements in the Side Scan Sonar surveys and the mapping of the rock sub-outcropping s
