Thanks to globalization, there has been a continuous increase in the number of Vietnamese students who choose to obtain education overseas. Although this phenomenon has received a lot of attention from researchers to investigate the international mobility of students, it lacks studies focus on a particular country. The research investigates the factors that influence the flow of Vietnamese students studying abroad over the world. The gravity model is employed to examine with the availability of data from 87 countries of destination over 20- year period from 1998 to 2017. The result shows the geographical distance has negative impact on the flow of Vietnamese students. Besides, it is confirmed that Vietnamese student's choices of destination country are influenced by total inflow of international students to that country. Other findings also indicate the factor of monthly wage each year and the religious proportion in host countries have a statistically significant and large effect in the inflow of Vietnamese students.
