The present study addresses the issue of the relationship between performance-related pay and innovative work behaviour. The first part presents a literature review on the influence of human resource management practices on innovative work behaviours, focusing in particular on performance-related pay systems with a view to highlighting the practices that are more likely to boost individual-level innovation at work. The second part presents an empirical analysis based on data drawn from the last wave of the European Working Conditions survey.
