Renewable Energies: Enel Green Power Internationalization in Brazil

Renewable energies are considered the key to face the problem of climate change. The evolution of technology in this field has been so impressive in the last decade that nowadays the integration of renewable energies in our everyday life is feasible. The aim of this thesis is to present all the benefits that clean energy can have, not only on an environmental basis, but also from the economic and social point of view. In order to show the great effort and commitment that some companies are demonstrating to achieve this objective, an Italian reality has been taken into consideration as case study: Enel Green Power. To better understand the industry environment, an analysis of the Italian renewable energy market and of the company itself has been made. Therefore, in order to observe the impact that renewable energies can have on emerging economies, this dissertation focuses on the case of Brazil, which is one of the BRIC countries. Developing countries like Brazil and India, due to their geographical composition, still have really much scope for innovation and exploitation of their natural resources. Enel Green Power, having understood this opportunity in time, has been able to take part of the industrialization of emerging countries through internationalization. The internationalization process of Enel Green Power in Brazil has brought to the country both economic and social benefits: innovation, technological development, job opportunities and a substantial improvement of the local energy infrastructure.
