State immunity is the branch of law whereby a State is immune from the jurisdiction of the court of another State. The doctrine was developed over a long time by the decisions of the domestic courts in different countries of both civil law and common law legal system. In particular, the evolution of State immunity in the United States highly influenced other jurisdictions. After an analysis on the U.S. Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act of 1976, and the different amendments, the focus will be on the status of terrorism exception.
